La Vernia sits about 25 miles southeast of San Antonio, and the countryside around it, from La Vernia out to Seguin and Floresville, holds some of the best wedding venues near the city. Think oak trees, open pasture and big Texas sunsets, without a long trip out of town.
We've photographed weddings at The Copper Door in La Vernia, and the other venues on this list are nearby and worth a tour. Each section covers what the venue offers and what to look at when you visit. We've left prices out because they change often, so ask each venue for current rates.
1. The Copper Door (La Vernia)
The Copper Door is a family-owned venue that Matt and Roxann Gray opened in 2019. It pairs a modern farmhouse with open country grounds: a lawn edged by oak trees, string lights for the evening, and the choice of an indoor or outdoor ceremony. The photos below come from Sophia and Thomas's wedding there.
For the full walkthrough of the ceremony site, reception hall, getting-ready rooms and our favorite photo spots, read our Copper Door wedding venue guide.
2. Grandview Weddings and Events (La Vernia)
Grandview is run by the Cummings family and opened in 2023 on FM 775 in La Vernia. The Grand Venue hall covers 7,600 square feet, and on-site lodging in the Grand Manor and the Grand Cave means the wedding party can get ready and stay on the property.
The views are the big draw: wide sunsets in the evening and the distant lights of San Antonio after dark. When you tour, ask where the sun sets relative to the ceremony site so you can plan portraits for the last hour of daylight.
3. Cool Breeze Pavilion (Between Seguin and La Vernia)
Cool Breeze Pavilion sits on a 138-acre working cattle ranch on FM 775, about six miles south of IH 10 between Seguin and La Vernia. The pavilion gives you about 2,600 square feet of covered space, and the ranch around it has oak trees, ponds and rolling views.
If you want a ranch wedding with a roof overhead, this is the one to see. The ponds and pasture make easy portrait backdrops without leaving the property.
4. The Mosheim Mansion (Seguin)
The Mosheim Mansion in Seguin was built in 1898. After a fire in 2021 it was renovated and reopened in January 2024. Inside you'll find a ballroom with terrazzo floors, a grand staircase and chandeliers, along with two ready rooms, six bedrooms and a day-of coordinator.
If you'd rather have a historic, indoor setting than a ranch, the Mosheim is up the road in Seguin. The grand staircase is a natural spot for portraits.
5. Isabel's Garden (Floresville)
Isabel's Garden has hosted weddings since 2011 on Paloma Drive off Highway 181 in Floresville. It pairs an outdoor garden with a 4,800-square-foot indoor hall, plus get-ready rooms and an event planner on staff.
Having the garden and an indoor hall on the same property gives you a built-in backup if the weather turns.
6. Geronimo Oaks Weddings and Events (Seguin)
Geronimo Oaks is a family-owned working ranch on Dietert Road in Seguin, between San Marcos, Seguin and New Braunfels. It has two venues on the property, West Texas and The Creeks, plus lodging on site. The ceremony site and arbor are included, and you're free to bring your own vendors.
How to Choose a Venue Near La Vernia
- Tour at the time of day you'll get married. Country venues look very different at midday than at golden hour, and the evening light is what you'll see in your photos.
- Ask about the rain plan. Find out where the ceremony moves if the weather turns and what that space looks like set up.
- Check which way the ceremony site faces. A ceremony looking straight into a low sun is hard on guests and on photos.
- Look closely at the getting-ready rooms. Window light and a bit of space make a big difference in those photos.
- Think about the drive home. If guests are staying in San Antonio or Seguin, factor in the trip after a late send-off, or look at venues with lodging on site.
- Ask about vendor rules. Some venues have preferred vendor lists, and others let you bring anyone.
