The Videre Estate Wedding Venue in Wimberley: A Photographer's Guide
The Videre Estate is a family-owned wedding venue on a private 400-acre estate in the Texas Hill Country, about 10 minutes from Wimberley and between Austin and San Antonio. It hosts one wedding per day, so the property is yours, and the ceremony site and reception hall both look out over the hills and a private 8-acre lake.
Every photo in this guide comes from Bri and JD's wedding there. It covers the ceremony site, the reception hall, the getting-ready spaces and our favorite photo spots. Still comparing venues? See our guide to Hill Country wedding venues.
The Ceremony Deck
Ceremonies happen on the Ceremony Deck, which sits more than 80 feet above the lake with the Hill Country behind you. It holds up to 300 guests and connects straight to the reception hall, so nobody has far to walk.
Bri and JD kept it simple: wooden cross-back chairs, white florals on pedestals at the front and the view doing the rest.
Videre Hall
Videre Hall is the main reception space, with marble floors, four chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the hills. The venue includes farmhouse tables, round tables and cross-back chairs, set up before you arrive.
The windows fill the hall with daylight, which keeps reception photos bright before sunset. After dark, the chandeliers take over.
The Grand Walkway and Cocktail Deck
After the ceremony, the Grand Walkway leads guests to the covered Cocktail Deck. The walkway, the decks and the outdoor stairs all look out over the hills, which makes them easy spots for portraits between the ceremony and the reception.
Getting Ready and Indoor Portraits
The Chateau is a French-inspired getting-ready house for up to 20 people, with a vanity room, a lounge, a kitchenette and a private patio. The Stables Lodge has six suites, a honeymoon suite and the Palomino Lounge, a second getting-ready space with a pool table and shuffleboard. On-site lodging sleeps up to 20 guests.
Bri and JD used the white interiors for indoor portraits. A fireplace, tall mirrors and gold sconces give you a polished backdrop when it's too hot or rainy to go outside.
Best Photo Spots at The Videre Estate
- The Ceremony Deck before guests arrive, with the lake and hills behind you
- The covered terraces and timber pergolas, for portraits in open shade
- The Grand Walkway and outdoor stairs, for walking shots
- The open decks, for big wedding party photos with the hills in the background
- The welcome pond at the entrance, a small spring the venue points to as a photo backdrop
Planning Tips
- Use the full rental. You get 14 hours at the venue, so there is time for a first look, wedding party photos and portraits before the ceremony.
- Make it a weekend. On-site lodging sleeps up to 20, and The Stables hosts welcome parties, rehearsal dinners and after parties that can run until 2 a.m.
- Bring your own team. The Videre has an open vendor policy.
- Save time for the decks. Step out after dinner for a few portraits with the hills behind you.
